Gavin has a broad range of clinical experience and has worked in various contexts including many years teaching young people with special educational needs and emotional/behavioural difficulties. He has extensive experience as a counsellor, clinical hynotherapist and tutor/lecturer, specialising in crisis counselling, suicide prevention, substance misuse, and improving memory and performance. He holds an MSc in Psychology, a Diploma of Higher Education in Counselling and is a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and Senior Registered Member / Advanced Practitioner with the General Hypnotherapy Register.
"I offer a flexible solution-focused approach drawing from a range of psychological, philosophical and neuroscientific models, tailored specifically to your needs. I also incorporate a simple educational approach into my work, around what is happening in the brain and nervous system, when painful experiences from the past are triggered by events in the present. I feel that an awareness of what is happening in the mind, body and emotions is productive in helping someone move beyond persistent, negative patterns to a more fulfilling life."
